Chris the Critic

Well, the past two days have been more than a little interesting. A party yesterday and a gaming tournament today? What more could a teenage boy ask for? Well, a girlfriend, for one, but I won't get greedy.

As you might have guessed from the title, I will be rating these two events. I will use a very simple, 1-10 scale, 10 being the best.

So, first up is Jordan's party.

Time Frame: 10

6-11, very nice times. Right when everyone wants to party.

Entertainment: 9

While I personally may not have enjoyed all the entertainment all the time, there was enough stuff there that I'm sure I could have found something to do if I tried. Plus, a gamecube! While not Jordan's gamecube, it was still there, therefor making the party a success.

Food: 8

Good food, true. Not the best, but up there. A big plus: there was plain, yellow mustard for the burgers. I don't know how many times I've been faced with a choice between brown mustard and no mustard at all.

Attendance: 10

Not only were the people there pretty cool, there was just the right number of them, too. Just enough to make it feel a bit crowded, like a party, but not so crowded that it's uncomfortable.

Dancing: 2

No one I know can dance. How unfortunate. But I won't be too critical. After all, I was the worst.

Music: 3

Well, there was no music. Other than that annoying disney music from Scene It! I think I preferred the silence. No music is better than bad music.

Overall: 9.5

Excellent, excellent party. I look forward to the next one. And there will be a next one, or someone may find themselves in an uncomfortable situation. Uncomfortable as in fatal. Jordan, I salute you and your manipulative ways. I also salute Megan for her better-dancing-than-any-of-us, Jake for his resistence to evil, Jenny for her better-dancing-than-anyone-but-Megan, Thomas for his willingness to be thrashed by the great Link, Jes for her excellent taste in fighting games, Dylan, Haley, Shane, and Matt for not making fun of me because I knew nothing about all the movies on that stupid game, other Jake for also knowing nothing about all the movies on that stupid game, Nick for refusing to show everyone but Megan, again, up on DDR, Sam for keeping her pants on, and Alan for his.....enthusiasm.

Also a very special, isolated and elevated salute to the great Mike, for graciously supplying us with his holy gamecube. I am forever in your debt.

Now for the tournament.

Length: 0

Well, there was no tournament. It was cancelled, due to lack of interest. Only five people showed up. But we still had our own mini-tournaments, so I'll rate today's events by player, rather than by category.

Drew: 7

Very good overall, competent at any game we threw at him. Also did most of the technical work when it came to setting up games. As far as each game, his performance was as follows.
UT2004: 8
Halo: 6
Battlefield; Vietnam: 3 (We all sucked that one up)
Doom 3: 3
Tribes; Vengeance: 8

Ivan: 4

I'm sorry, Ivan, but you just weren't all that good. Although you did well defensively in Tribes, and did start to kill well in UT2004. Complete performance follows.
UT2004: 5
Halo: 3
Battlefield; Vietnam: 3
Doom 3: 4
Tribes; Vengeance: 5

Jason: 7

I don't know this kid personally, but he plays a mean game of UT2004. Easily my biggest rival there. Here's a summary.
UT2004: 9
Halo: I don't think he played this with us.
Battlefield; Vietnam: 3
Doom 3: 3
Tribes; Vengeance: 8

Jake: 9

Okay, this little punk of a drummer owned us all in Halo. Him and his playing-it-all-the-time. Still, he did very well overall. Here's his results.
UT2004: 9
Halo: 10
Battlefield; Vietnam: 3
Doom 3: 4
Tribes; Vengeance: 9

Chris: 9

While I was sadly lacking in my Halo skillz, I ruled the world of Unreal, I owned Tribes, and I'd at least played Battlefield before. Here are my rather impressive results.
UT2004: 10
Halo: 7
Battlefield; Vietnam: 4
Doom 3: 6
Tribes; Vengeance: 10

So, I think I'm the clear winner. Hee hee, and if anyone cares to dispute any of my ratings, just post a comment, I'll be glad to justify myself.

And the Lord of the Games says "Tag 'em and bag 'em."

All that matters is that I beat everyone, over and over again, in most of the games. I'd say 20 wins is better than four or five definitive wins. You did well, true. But stop whining.
