Chris the Critic

Well, the past two days have been more than a little interesting. A party yesterday and a gaming tournament today? What more could a teenage boy ask for? Well, a girlfriend, for one, but I won't get greedy.

As you might have guessed from the title, I will be rating these two events. I will use a very simple, 1-10 scale, 10 being the best.

So, first up is Jordan's party.

Time Frame: 10

6-11, very nice times. Right when everyone wants to party.

Entertainment: 9

While I personally may not have enjoyed all the entertainment all the time, there was enough stuff there that I'm sure I could have found something to do if I tried. Plus, a gamecube! While not Jordan's gamecube, it was still there, therefor making the party a success.

Food: 8

Good food, true. Not the best, but up there. A big plus: there was plain, yellow mustard for the burgers. I don't know how many times I've been faced with a choice between brown mustard and no mustard at all.

Attendance: 10

Not only were the people there pretty cool, there was just the right number of them, too. Just enough to make it feel a bit crowded, like a party, but not so crowded that it's uncomfortable.

Dancing: 2

No one I know can dance. How unfortunate. But I won't be too critical. After all, I was the worst.

Music: 3

Well, there was no music. Other than that annoying disney music from Scene It! I think I preferred the silence. No music is better than bad music.

Overall: 9.5

Excellent, excellent party. I look forward to the next one. And there will be a next one, or someone may find themselves in an uncomfortable situation. Uncomfortable as in fatal. Jordan, I salute you and your manipulative ways. I also salute Megan for her better-dancing-than-any-of-us, Jake for his resistence to evil, Jenny for her better-dancing-than-anyone-but-Megan, Thomas for his willingness to be thrashed by the great Link, Jes for her excellent taste in fighting games, Dylan, Haley, Shane, and Matt for not making fun of me because I knew nothing about all the movies on that stupid game, other Jake for also knowing nothing about all the movies on that stupid game, Nick for refusing to show everyone but Megan, again, up on DDR, Sam for keeping her pants on, and Alan for his.....enthusiasm.

Also a very special, isolated and elevated salute to the great Mike, for graciously supplying us with his holy gamecube. I am forever in your debt.

Now for the tournament.

Length: 0

Well, there was no tournament. It was cancelled, due to lack of interest. Only five people showed up. But we still had our own mini-tournaments, so I'll rate today's events by player, rather than by category.

Drew: 7

Very good overall, competent at any game we threw at him. Also did most of the technical work when it came to setting up games. As far as each game, his performance was as follows.
UT2004: 8
Halo: 6
Battlefield; Vietnam: 3 (We all sucked that one up)
Doom 3: 3
Tribes; Vengeance: 8

Ivan: 4

I'm sorry, Ivan, but you just weren't all that good. Although you did well defensively in Tribes, and did start to kill well in UT2004. Complete performance follows.
UT2004: 5
Halo: 3
Battlefield; Vietnam: 3
Doom 3: 4
Tribes; Vengeance: 5

Jason: 7

I don't know this kid personally, but he plays a mean game of UT2004. Easily my biggest rival there. Here's a summary.
UT2004: 9
Halo: I don't think he played this with us.
Battlefield; Vietnam: 3
Doom 3: 3
Tribes; Vengeance: 8

Jake: 9

Okay, this little punk of a drummer owned us all in Halo. Him and his playing-it-all-the-time. Still, he did very well overall. Here's his results.
UT2004: 9
Halo: 10
Battlefield; Vietnam: 3
Doom 3: 4
Tribes; Vengeance: 9

Chris: 9

While I was sadly lacking in my Halo skillz, I ruled the world of Unreal, I owned Tribes, and I'd at least played Battlefield before. Here are my rather impressive results.
UT2004: 10
Halo: 7
Battlefield; Vietnam: 4
Doom 3: 6
Tribes; Vengeance: 10

So, I think I'm the clear winner. Hee hee, and if anyone cares to dispute any of my ratings, just post a comment, I'll be glad to justify myself.

And the Lord of the Games says "Tag 'em and bag 'em."

Gaps

You may or may not notice that there are several entries missing. That is because I deleted them. I figure that it is easier to just delete them than fix them. But there will be plenty more to replace them, so don't go crying or anything foolish like that.

I would also like to make a formal apology to one Jordan. I am sorry for being mean, and I now realize that I could not consider myself a gentleman if I continued to make fun of a girl. Or at least as much as I made fun of you. No test is needed, I'll just stop insulting you as much as possible. But please, please stay away from me. Physically, that is. No closer than three or four feet.

.....

Well, I suppose that's it. Not a very long post, but purposeful. Christo-Magnifico, signing off.

I am sick

I must be the most strong-willed guy in existence. Or at least in the top ten. Soon you'll know why. Very soon. As soon as you get to the next part. The very next paragraph. Right here.

Today I was very, very sick. The symptoms:

The worst migraine of my life.
Extremely dry mouth.
Weakness in arms. (I could only manage two pushups this morning.)
Complete loss of taste.
Burningly dry nose, running just enough to make me sniff constantly.
Bleeding without cause.
Stiff neck.
Mild cough.
Frequent sneezing.
Loss of concentration.
Sore knees.

That's about it. Now, with all of this, I still went to our nearly six-hour-long drumline practice. I did take a Tylenol halfway through (Thanks Sam!), but still, you've got to admit, I'm a beast. I, along with everyone else in the drumline, actually had a really great rehearsal. We made lots of progress.

I'm feeling slightly better now, but I still feel like just mashing my head into the keyboard and knocking myself out. In fact...

Subway

Y'know, the more I think about it, the closer this page is coming to a typical online journal....

Anywho, guess what happenned today! Lots of boring things! And also I spent about two and a half hours at Subway talking to a couple friends and one horrible, horrible person. Eww, she makes me puke into my drink.....

We had some very interesting conversations. We covered everything from terrifying video games to religion to the condition of various body parts. It was very enlightening. We also had several freakishly coincidental meetings. It was very disturbing.

Of course, I was being my typical suave, charming, and hilarious self the whole time. Definately the life of the table. Meanwhile Jake, yes the same Jake from The Mulligans, the band I'm in, berated us for our unholy ways, screaming that we must repent or burn for eternity. Okay, I may be exaggerating a touch. Or maybe a whole shove. Jes, a person previously unmentioned who attempts to rape me at every turn (like all the fiynne laiydeez), focused mainly on her own detestibility, which, like Jake, is exaggerated. Last, and certainly least, it was there. I don't know exactly what she was saying, but whatever it was, I'm sure it was only barely comprehendable.

((She's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer....))

So what did I learn tonight, you ask? Well, I'll tell you.

I learned that I have to pick up a copy of Alice.
I learned that Jake's sister swears.
I learned that girls don't want to be boys.
I learned that Kevin wears speedos.
I learned that certain people can't stand akward silences.
I learned that the Chicken Teriyaki sub is one of the "under 6g of fat" subs.
I learned that the smoking section of Subway is completely pointless.
I learned that Thomas lived in South Carolina.
I learned that it has a hilarious Driver's Liscense picture.
I learned that Jake plans on wearing orange Converses to all school dances.
I learned that some people have sex with walls?
I learned that certain cross country families are cult members.
I learned that my brother....well, I won't go into detail about that.

I probably learned some other stuff, but I'll have to add it later. Suffice it to say that tonight was a learning experience. Plus, I feel unusually upbeat now. How great is that?

And the cow says "Meuh."

Apology

Okay, okay, I'm writing as an apology for my last post. Sometimes I don't stop to think about what comes out of my mouth. Or out of my fingers, as it were. My ramblings on relationships should not be taken too seriously. I was in a foul, yet contemplative, mood. True, I would very much like a girlfriend. But I'm not quite as obsessed as I may have seemed.

So anyways. Now I'm not apologizing anymore, I'm rambling about nothing in particular. Overall my life seems to be pretty boring, so I'm not really expecting anyone at all to visit my blog. If you do, however, you're the best!

Oh yeah! I made a test online, to see who would make the best fan of me. Everyone should totally do it. Click da link! You can post your results here on the blog, if you'd like. Or not. It doesn't matter...

Ooh, howzabout another link? This one goes to the Sin City trailer.

You know what? I'm just gonna make this a big 'ole link post.

Homestarrunner.com, it's the place to be for hilarious toons.
miniclips.com, for games and more.
albinoblacksheep.com, yup, s'more flash toons. Bet you can guess what I spend my free time watching.
gamewinners.com, the best site for tips and cheats.
ratemyteachers.com, a great site for the student in all of us.
Last, but not least, quizyourfriends.com, the place where I made my test!

Hope you enjoy all these sites. I know I do. I'll probably have hundreds more in the near future. Or at least three.

And the ninja says "hiiiiiyah!"

Why I hate Valentines Day

Ah, Valentines day. A holiday for lovers, for young couples and old alike. Key words: lovers. Couples.

What could I possibly hate more than being alone? Not much. But mostly it's my own fault.

I know, for a fact, that I could get a girlfriend in a single day, if I wanted to. I've been told so numerous times. I also know, for a fact, that there are girls out there that I'd absolutely love to go out with. It's all my principles that get in the way.

First of all, I would never try to steal an attached girl. In my opinion, it's wrong. This is very unfortunate, as I only seem to go for girls who are already dating.

Secondly, I'm waiting until I have my liscense to ask anyone out. I'd hate to have my parents pick up my girlfriend. Who wouldn't?

Thirdly, I won't settle for anyone who I'm not crazy about. I know a lot of people date for status reasons only. I'm not like that.

Now, I know that these sound like high morals, or at least two of them, but I'm still going nuts. Sometimes I wish I wasn't such a great guy. :-)

This is why Valentines day is quite possibly my least favorite holiday of the year. It's just another reason for me to drive myself crazy over my single state of being.

"Fall not in love, therefore; It will stick to your face."

Concert Results

What a great night. The concert was a success, I think. We sounded really nice. I'm proud of my own performance, as well as those of my bandmates. Drew's working out very well, and it looks like he gets to stay on with the band. Score one great bass player for The Mulligans!

Hopefully we'll begin to make some profit now. The entire point of the concert was to be recognized by some potential clients. I'm not sure if we were, though. I suppose we'll find out eventually.

One last thing. I highly reccomend The Phantom of the Opera, which I saw today. Totally a five out of five.

And the knight says "Yea, verily!"

The Mulligans

How many people out there have dreamed of being in a band? I used to. Now, of course, I AM in a band, and so need dream no more. We are The Mulligans, a Christian Ska band. Talent-wise, I'd say we're a 6-7 out of 10. Fame-wise, more like a 2. But hopefully that will change tonight. Tonight is a big concert. The guy hosting it is looking for new talent. That talent is us. We will be playing with four other bands at a nearby roller rink.

I am a trumpet player. I play alongside JJ, mentioned in an earlier post, who has come back from college to play this 'gig' with us. Our lead singer and rythm guitarist is a cool cat who goes by the name of Brian. Younger Bennett Brother Jake is our drummer, and though youngest, possibly the most mature member of the band. We also have a brand-spankin'-new bass player, Drew. Our last one didn't work out, as he was too busy to come to practices. It's almost for the better though, as Drew has some mad skillz.

Our lineup for the concert:

Beyond These Streets
A moderate-tempo, groovin' piece with a pretty sweet lick and a longing for something more.

It's 4 AM (Do You Know Where Your Children Are?)
A personal favorite. Upbeat, smily kind of song about the rebellious nature of today's youth, myself included.

Tell Me Why
A fun-sounding song with a swing beat. Don't let the music fool you, though; try listening to the lyrics, and see if you still feel like dancing.

Help Me More
An epic song written by our late bass player David. One of our earlier pieces, and the first one with group vocals!

The Greatest Things In Life
A true classic. Our first song ever, and still just as catchy as the first time we played it. Upbeat, happy, and exciting, as one might gather from the title itself.

I Burn Bridges (Like Nobody's Business)
A newer song, and another favorite of mine. If you hear it, be sure to 'Oi' along.

Let's Go
An amazing song that we wrote the very first day I was in the band, and recorded the next day. It wasn't a bad recording, either. A great end for a show. Or beginning, for that matter.

I'll post again tonight with the concert's results. Until then, ciao.

First Post

Hello, all you fans of me. This is my first post ever on my first Blog ever, so don't be too upset if it's not what you expected.
The first, and simplest, thing for me to do will be to transfer some of my literary masterpieces via copy and paste. You can count on seeing some fairly soon. Also, I'll attempt to recognize those responsible for the creation of this Blog.
First off, there's me. I made it. Secondly, there's my good friend JJ Bennett. He has his own blog, a very good one, I must say. If you are interested in the political views of an extremely capable writer, you should pay it a visit. It's at http://jjbennett.blogspot.com. Feel free to post any reactions you may have; I'm sure he'll appreciate and respond to them. Thirdly...well, there's all the other people who make my life interesting, and who inspire me to do what I do.
I feel that this is enough rambling for my first post. More than anything, this is a test, helping me to understand how a Blog works. Respond if you wish, though there be not much to respond to.
And the Pirate says "Bullocks!"
